Goals
& Objectives:
-
through challenge and accomplishment/achievement in remote wilderness
settings, PROJECT LOST seeks to restore the client’s sense
of perception of self worth
- by
assisting our clients to re-discover a strong, positive sense of
self, we can nurture several key strategies for life-long success….
a key component or addition to an existing therapeutic intervention
program
-
to promote effective skills in decision-making, self-discipline/reliance,
team building, leadership, communication, empathy, and social problem-solving
- to
provide a stimulating, empowering, nature-based, and safe environment
in which to practise and learn these life-skills
- to
help our clients develop awareness of their individual styles of
personalities and interacting….and to learn what works and
what doesn’t
- to
promote self-esteem and build self-confidence
- TO
HELP CLIENTS SURVIVE AND SUCCEED TO PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE AND HAPPINESS,
AND REDUCE THEIR RELIANCE ON THE SOCIAL SYSTEM, ABUSIVE PERSONS,
AND ALCOHOL-DRUGS
ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT STRATEGY/PROTOCOLS:
Project LOST
aims to instill solid environmental respect values (to clients and
staff)
Therefore, we
will practise the following environmental ethics on all outings:
- no-trace
camping ethic
- improve
the campsite and trails/portages policy (clean-ups)
- maintain
site carrying-capacity and sustainability thresholds; e.g., maximum
of 9 campers/staff at an interior campsite, gather firewood far
from campsite, no glass bottles or tin cans
- respect
for flora and fauna (all living things)
- respect
fellow and other campers/staff; e.g., noise levels, behaviour
