Wilderness Voyageur Canoe Trip

An experiential Outdoor Adventure Challenge, where clients will re-create many aspects of the “Voyageur Lifestyles”, during a 5 – 7 day canoe trip on or near an authentic fur trade canoe route.

Participants will gain respect for the peoples who pioneered Canada, and the difficulties they would have had to cope with in everyday “survival”.

As a result of the achievements of this expedition, clients will gain self-reliance/esteem, and a sound conviction regarding the need for persistence, adaptation, and positive attitude in the journey of life in today’s civilization.

Activities Included:

  • extensive canoeing in tandem
  • camping overnight “Voyageur-Style” under canoes (and some tenting)
  • preparing historic foods (bannock, pemmican….gathering wild foods)
  • fire-building using flint & steel, firebow friction
  • nature loring and tracking

Potential Routes:

  • McRae Lake Provincial Wilderness Area to Georgian Bay Islands National Park, and Beousoliel Island.
  • French River historic route, from Lake Nippising to Lake Huron.

Season offered: mid-May to early October

Notes: this program requires an orientation / planning seminar, and a skills workshop in basic canoeing and safety, prior to the expedition.

Difficulty rating: soft to medium skills.

Suggested fee per client: $495.00 - $695.00 includes everything except transport to / from site.
