Voyageur Canoe Trip
An experiential Outdoor Adventure Challenge, where clients will re-create
many aspects of the “Voyageur Lifestyles”, during a 5
– 7 day canoe trip on or near an authentic fur trade canoe route.
Participants
will gain respect for the peoples who pioneered Canada, and the difficulties
they would have had to cope with in everyday “survival”.
As
a result of the achievements of this expedition, clients will gain
self-reliance/esteem, and a sound conviction regarding the need for
persistence, adaptation, and positive attitude in the journey of life
in today’s civilization.
Activities Included:

extensive canoeing in tandem
-
camping overnight “Voyageur-Style” under canoes (and
some tenting)
-
preparing historic foods (bannock, pemmican….gathering wild
foods)

fire-building using flint & steel, firebow friction
-
nature loring and tracking
Potential Routes:
- McRae
Lake Provincial Wilderness Area to Georgian Bay Islands National
Park, and Beousoliel Island.

French River historic route, from Lake Nippising to Lake Huron.
Season offered: mid-May to early October
Notes: this program requires an orientation / planning seminar, and
a skills workshop in basic canoeing and safety, prior to the expedition.
Difficulty rating: soft to medium skills.
Suggested fee per client: $495.00 - $695.00 includes everything except
transport to / from site.
