Winter Camping & Dogsledding Expedition

An extreme adventure-challenge program, whereby participants will learn how to cope and enjoy life in extreme winter conditions, far away from civilization!

Clients will snowshoe and dogsled to remote, scenic backcountry locations, camping out in expedition tents, yurts, and primitive shelters.

Participants will learn and experience advanced winter camping techniques, dog sledding basics, and snowshoeing techniques, including skills of the native peoples pertinent to cold weather living.

Activities Included:

  • winter camping high-tech style
  • primitive winter survival skills
  • dog sledding fundamentals (mushing)
  • snowshoeing
  • winter nature lore

Potential Routes:

  • Kearney trail system
  • Algonquin Park routes
  • Burk’s Falls trails

Season Offered: late January to early March (dependent on snow conditions)

Notes: this program requires an in-depth orientation/skills workshop, and a certificate of appropriate physical fitness level, prior to the expedition.

Difficulty rating: hard skills
