Overview:

Building on the Wilderness Survival course, or for students with outdoor experience, this course focuses on the psychology of the survival ordeal or lost person situation.

Purpose:

To learn advanced survival skills.

Topics:

  • advanced shelter construction
  • fire by friction
  • traps and snares
  • panic avoidance and crisis management.

Participants will examine the profile of the lost victim, including preparedness, personality, will to live, mental and physical readiness, and skill/experience level.
Indepth examination of search and rescue techniques and information relating to avoidance and prevention will conclude the program.

Duration:

  • seminars (5 three-hour evening sessions or 2 eight-hour Saturday sessions)
  • overnight weekend with minimal gear!
