Overview:

Partipants travel through and live in remote sections of Algonquin Park and adjacent crown land preserves.

Purpose:

To practice survival skills and gain indepth wilderness survival experience.

Topics:

  • advanced outdoor survival skills, and primitive skills,
  • advanced wilderness navigational techniques,
  • wilderness emergency first-aid skills,
  • advanced nature lore and ecology, and,
  • advanced identification of medicinal and edible wildplants.

This is stricly an experiental program intended for experienced survival students.

Duration:

  • 2 evening planning sessions, plus
  • a 7-day wilderness adventure.

Misc:

Course manuals wil be available: Survival Manual, $20.00, and Edible Plants Guidebook, $10.00.

As prerequisites to this program, good physical fitness and a minimum of one survival course are requirements.

Participants will need the following: magnesium flint stick, Silva-type compass, pocket knife, folding saw, personal items, ourdoor clothing, appropriate footwear, bug repellant, and sunscreen.

The trip concludes with a day at the rustic Nordic Lodge enjoying home-cooked meals, hot tub, sauna, and total relaxation!
An optional lodging and meals package before and after the outing is available at an additional fee of $100.00. Those who prefer may camp and supply their own food instead.

There will be a fee (tba) for parking at the Lodge for the week's outing, and an optional $25.00 fee for transportation to and from the site.

Upon completion, successful participants will receive a "Certificate of Achievement' from Humber College and WSC Survival School.
