Hitch Your Trailer to New Canadian Series
Camp’N Out, Premiering Wednesday, May 7 on OLN

TORONTO (April 30, 2003) – Outdoor Life Network today announced the acquisition of Camp’N Out, a new 13-part, 30-minute Canadian-produced series targeting the outdoor enthusiast. The series premieres Wednesday, May 7 at 2:30 p.m. ET and will air regularly Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. ET and Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. ET on OLN.

Hosted by camping aficionado Emma Brown, Camp’N Out takes viewers deep inside some of Canada’s most beautiful parks and campsites including Bow Valley Provincial Park in Alberta, Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario and Thomas Raddal Provincial Park in Nova Scotia. In each episode, Brown explores camping culture, highlights different camping activities such as kayaking and spelunking and profiles the latest and greatest in camping gear and gadgets.

Ted Reader joins Brown as the Camp’N Out resident chef, delighting outdoor enthusiasts with his creative campground cooking techniques and recipes using nothing but an open fire pit, gas grill or hibachi. Backcountry survival specialist David Arama takes viewers through important survival techniques for wilderness hiking, while Gary Jack, a guru in campground first-aid, rounds out the Camp’N Out team and demonstrates how to deal with everything from snakebites to poison ivy to ankle sprains.

In the premiere episode, Camp’N Out visits Killarney Provincial Park, considered by many as the crown jewel of parks in Ontario. In the episode, Brown examines the coolest backpacks and compasses and takes viewers on a nature interpretation hike, while Reader prepares chicken souvlaki on an open fire pit, and Arama and Jack explore heat exhaustion and proper clothing and footwear.

Camp’N Out is produced by Peace Point Productions of Mississauga, Ont. Les Tomlin is the executive producer of the series.
